eSIM Compatible Phones List 2026 – iPhone, Samsung & More
Before you buy a travel eSIM, there's one question worth answering first: does your phone actually support it?
The good news is that if you bought a flagship smartphone in the last four or five years, the answer is almost certainly yes. eSIM is now standard across Apple, Samsung, Google, and most major Android brands. The exceptions are worth knowing though — certain regional variants, carrier-locked devices, and budget models still don't support it.
This guide lists every major eSIM-compatible device in 2026. If your phone is on this list, you're good to go.
How to Check if Your Phone Supports eSIM (30 Seconds)
Before scrolling through the full list, try this first:
- On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About. If you can see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM.
- On Android: Go to Settings and search for "eSIM" or "SIM Manager." If the option appears, you're compatible.
-
On any phone: Dial
*#06#— if an EID number appears on screen, your device supports eSIM.
One important caveat: your phone also needs to be network unlocked to use a travel eSIM. A carrier-locked phone can only use eSIMs from the carrier it's locked to. If you bought your phone directly from Apple, Samsung, or Google's website, it's almost certainly unlocked. If you bought it through a carrier on a contract, check before purchasing.

A few things to know:
USA-purchased iPhone 14 and 15 models are eSIM-only — there's no physical SIM slot at all, which makes them the most eSIM-native phones on the market.
iPhones purchased in mainland China use dual physical SIM cards and do not support eSIM. Hong Kong and Macau models are also generally not compatible, with a few exceptions (iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone SE 2020, and iPhone XS).
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are SIM-only in China and eSIM-only in the USA, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mexico, Kuwait, Japan, Guam, Canada, and Bahrain.
All other models listed above support dual SIM — one physical SIM and one eSIM running simultaneously, which is exactly what you want for travel. Keep your home number on the physical SIM and use Ezy eSIM for data.

Samsung supports eSIM across its flagship S, Z Fold, and Z Flip lines. The A series has very limited support. ⌚ Smartwatches — Important Caveat for Travellers
Apple Watch (GPS + Cellular models, Series 3 and newer) and Samsung Galaxy Watch (LTE models, Series 4 and newer) both have eSIM chips built in. However, there's a critical distinction that catches a lot of travellers out:
Smartwatch eSIMs are designed to mirror your existing carrier plan — not to work with third-party travel eSIMs like Ezy eSIM.
When you set up cellular on an Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch, you're adding the watch to your home carrier's plan. You cannot install a travel eSIM directly on a smartwatch. This applies to all major travel eSIM providers — it's a hardware and software limitation of how smartwatch eSIMs work, not something specific to Ezy eSIM.
The practical workaround for travellers: install your Ezy eSIM on your iPhone or Android phone as normal. When your phone is connected to data via the Ezy eSIM plan, your paired Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch will also have connectivity through the phone's Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection — no separate setup needed.
❌ Common Devices That Do NOT Support Travel eSIM
Worth knowing before you buy:
- Samsung Galaxy S20, S21 purchased in the USA — eSIM disabled on US carrier models
- Samsung Galaxy A series (most models, with limited exceptions above)
- iPhones purchased in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau (with limited exceptions)
- Xiaomi Redmi and Poco series (most budget models)
- iPhones older than XR/XS (iPhone 8, 7, 6, SE 1st gen etc.)
- Most Android devices under $300
- Any carrier-locked phone — must be unlocked before a travel eSIM will work
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my phone need to be unlocked for eSIM? Yes — your device must be network unlocked to use any travel eSIM. A carrier-locked phone can only activate eSIMs from its locked carrier. If you bought your phone directly from Apple, Google, or Samsung's website it should already be unlocked. If you bought it through a carrier on a contract, contact your carrier to confirm.
Can I use eSIM and a physical SIM at the same time? Yes — most modern smartphones support dual SIM with one physical SIM and one eSIM active simultaneously. This is ideal for travel: keep your home number on the physical SIM for calls and texts, and use Ezy eSIM for data. iPhone 13 and newer can even have two eSIMs active at the same time.
Can I install multiple eSIMs on one phone? Yes. iPhones can store 5–8 eSIM profiles and activate one at a time. This means you can pre-install separate country eSIMs before a multi-destination trip and switch between them as you land in each new country — no reinstallation needed.
Does the country I bought my phone in affect eSIM support? Yes, in some cases. Chinese market Samsung and iPhone models often disable eSIM. US carrier-purchased Samsung phones typically have eSIM disabled. EU, UK, Australian, and international unlocked models generally have full eSIM support.
Do smartwatches work with travel eSIMs? No — Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch eSIM chips are designed to mirror your home carrier plan, not to accept third-party travel eSIMs. Install your Ezy eSIM on your phone and your paired watch will stay connected via Bluetooth when your phone has data.
My device isn't on this list — can I still use eSIM? Possibly. New devices launch regularly and this list may not include the very latest models. Try the *#06# dial test — if an EID number appears, your device supports eSIM. You can also check Settings for an "Add eSIM" or "Mobile Plans" option.
